Dan Lovinaria, DNP, MBA, APRN, CRNA, CHSE, FNAP, FAANA, FAAN
Dan Lovinaria has been a practicing CRNA for over 23 years and is proud to be the first Filipino CRNA who was recently inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Lovinaria is a senior CRNA at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs and a Johns Hopkins Nurse Anesthesia Program faculty member. He was the former Program Director of the first DNP Nurse Anesthesia Program in the US, the University of Minnesota, and a former President of the Minnesota Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Dr. Lovinaria serves as the chairperson for the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists’ National Certification Examination, AANA Fellow Selection Committee member, reviewer of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology Journal, and Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation’s Patient Safety Advisory Group member.
Through his board leadership with the Diversity in Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program, Dr. Lovinaria has facilitated mentorship to under-represented minority nurses, resulting in admissions to US nurse anesthesia programs. Dr. Lovinaria individually mentored over 200 Minnesota critical care nurses in the last decade who pursued nurse anesthesia careers and are now practicing CRNAs in Minnesota and the US.
His contributions to nursing have been disseminated in local, national, and international presentations, collaboration, and innovations. His diversity, equity, and inclusion advocacy in nurse anesthesia was recognized in June 2022 as one of the 25 Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s Health Care Hero recipients, 2021 inaugural Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology, and 2020 Distinguished Practitioner Fellow of the National Academies of Practice in Nursing.
